Abstract: In the Qing Dynasty，it became a common social phenomenon for scholars to be a private secretary，and PU Songling was one of the scholars. He was invited by his friend Baoying County Magistrate SUN Hui to take up the post of clerical staff. During this period，he wrote a large number of public and private letters on behalf of SUN Hui，as well as a small number of proclamations and submissions. From the writing of PU Songling’s letters，we can see that his main writing occasions are not only official entertainment，but also official affairs，such as handling lawsuit disputes and reporting postal issues. Because he had a good relationship with SUN Hui and was trusted by him，he also wrote many personal letters on behalf of SUN. At the same time，the other poetry writing during the tour reflects that PU Songling is not only responsible for document writing，but also some administrative functions，such as providing advice for SUN，following him out for investigation.
