Research on the Action Logic of Social Work Intervention in Building Child-Friendly Spaces in Urban Villages: Based on Actor-Network Theory

Abstract:

China’s development of child-friendly communities is still in its early stages,especially in urban villages where activity spaces for migrant children are lacking. Social work organizations play a crucial role in this process,with recognized expertise in community constructing, which can get involved the construction of child-friendly community. This study examines the “Xiaohe’s Home” project by X Social Work Station in Q Village as a case study,using Actor-Network Theory,highlights the translation logic in constructing child-friendly spaces and analyzes the challenges in the construction of child-friendly spaces within,between,and outside the actors involved. Recommendations are provided to guide social workers in constructing similar spaces in urban villages.
