Abstract:

The language of official documents pays attention to standardization，effectiveness and

accuracy. The study of the preposition“在（Zai）”in official documents from the pragmatic perspective is helpful to the precise expression of meaning by the sender and the accurate understanding by the receiver. However，there is still a lack of attention to this issue at present. Guided by the methods such as comparative research，interdisciplinary study，based on the official document text characteristic，after the selection and statistical analysis of the preposition“在（Zai）” in official documents，it is concluded that there are two basic sentence patterns：“PP+VP” and“VP+PP”. Combined with document context and the preposition“在（Zai）” the introduction of object，there are some special pragmatic meanings in the basic sentence patterns of official documents. In terms of pragmatic functions，there is no significant difference between official documents and other texts in terms of discourse cohesion，but there are differences in terms of jurisdiction and emphasis of the two basic sentence patterns in official documents. Due to the influence of pragmatic factors to different degrees，the preposition“在（Zai）” in the beginning and in the sentence also has different manifestations.
