Revisiting Lingnan: The Image Construction of Lingnan Cinema Transcending Locality

摘要:

岭南在某种程度上超越了区域的概念,更多地与民族、国家、世界关联在一起。作为现实社会镜像的岭南电影,不仅承担着岭南地区影像书写的使命,而且表现出了超越地方的影像建构趋势。岭南电影发展历经自觉探索、制片厂、产业化三个时期,各时期呈现不同的特质:早期借现实主义题材推动社会转变;制片厂时期影片类型多元,突破地域局限;产业化时期加强区域合作,实现模式转变。岭南电影借助共同文化符号,构建起开放、包容的交流机制,在讲好中国故事的过程中,实现民族主体性的建构。在粤港澳大湾区国家战略背景下,岭南电影被赋予新的使命,成为表达民族自信与中国文化对外传播的重要载体。

Abstract:

Lingnan, to some extent,“transcends”the concept of“locality”and is more closely“bound”to ethnicity, nation, and the world. As a“mirror”of social reality, Lingnan cinema not only undertakes the visual documentation of the Lingnan region but also demonstrates image construction that“transcends”locality. The development of Lingnan cinema has experienced three periods: conscious exploration, the studio era, and industrialization, each presenting different characteristics. In its early phase, realism-themed films promoted social transformation; during the studio era, diverse film genres emerged, breaking regional limitations; and in the industrialization phase, regional cooperation was strengthened, leading to a shift in production models. By

leveraging shared cultural symbols, Lingnan cinema has established an open and inclusive mechanism for cultural exchange, constructing a sense of national identity while narrating Chinese stories. Under the national strategy of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Lingnan cinema has been entrusted with a new mission, serving as a vital medium for expressing national confidence and promoting Chinese culture globally.
